Seeing God in the Back Seat of My Minivan
20 December 2006

As the father of four young boys, let’s just say I’m exposed to all sorts of mischief. Don’t get me wrong, there’s plenty o tender moments, but what I seem to write about a lot are those, “Oh, no you didn’t!” type of events. I guess that’s because I see me in those moments, thinking back to when I was a little guy and always finding a way to get into big trouble. I don’t only see myself in these moments, it seems I always see a bit of a lesson in them for myself. Let me tell you what I…

I May Be Dead Soon
02 June 2006

Well, yesterday I did it. I picked-up my first motorcycle! You may ask, “Why?” I’m not quite sure. It may have something to do with turning 30 in a few weeks, being able to ride with my dad, joining in with other guys in the church who ride, or that Andrea took a spin on one the other night with my dad and her eyes lit up with excitement and said, “You need to get one of those!” Now, I don’t know about you, but when your wife tells you something like that you better act while the sun is still…

Not Settling for Lesser Truth
25 May 2006

Last night was a great event here at the church. We had a special guest panel of scholars, Dr. Warren Gage and Dr. Sam Lamerson, from Knox Theological Seminary. I’ve been privileged to have both of these men as my professors in seminary. They’ve helped me unlock many treasures in Scripture. Last night was no exception. Here’s an MP3 of the night.

The event was to explore some of the questions that arise from the book and movie “The Da Vinci Code.” The one thing I walked away from that evening reflecting upon was…

Knowing Neighbors
22 May 2006

I really never knew our neighbors until we moved into our current community about 2 years ago. We moved in between the two hurricanes that hit south Florida, and immediately to go know each one of them as we boarded up and rode out the storms of 2004.

Tonight my wife and I were hanging out in the front yard with some of our boys, a nephew, and some neighborhood kids. Our dog has a long training leash that turned into a limbo rope, and then a jump rope for them. As we were playing, some neighbors came over…

The Foundation for a Pastor
10 May 2006

In having given the lecture on Judas recently I have been reflecting on him as he compares to Peter. Why? Both betray the Savior, yet only one repented. Even though the KJV translation uses the word “repent“ for Judas, we see him go back to those who gave him the 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave, and not to the Savior, or to Father God. Yet it was Peter who repented and because of this, was restored by Christ at the end of the Gospel of John, and accepted by the early church. It is…

Live Your Design Now Open
03 May 2006

So the challenge we all face is how can we impact people with the unlimited power of the gospel with a limited level of resources. I’m glad to be surrounded by a team who consistently rises to that challenge. In contemplating how God has designed me and how I can serve Him, my heart seems to always lead me to the internet. As I look back on my life I see how God has helped me learn so many skills in design and web programming. It seems everytime I try to get away from doing those types of things, my heart…
