The Foundation for a Pastor
10 May 2006

In having given the lecture on Judas recently I have been reflecting on him as he compares to Peter. Why? Both betray the Savior, yet only one repented. Even though the KJV translation uses the word “repent“ for Judas, we see him go back to those who gave him the 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave, and not to the Savior, or to Father God. Yet it was Peter who repented and because of this, was restored by Christ at the end of the Gospel of John, and accepted by the early church. It is important that we remember that all those of faith come to it imperfectly. We must kindle the comedic imagination of a sinner transformed into a friend of God in order that we nurture acceptance and restoration in our churches, or else we tend to emphasize the hypocratic.
