VBS and Memories

What a blast! We opened our annual Vacation Bible School last night with a bang. This year our theme is “Trading Places.” We travel to a different country each night and experience different cultures thru the eyes of other children, with the purpose of developing a heart for them, as well as to be moved to gratefulness for all that God has blessed us with. Last night’s country was “Mexico.” We did it in style with piñatas, make your own sombrero snack, Mexican bead craft, and a mariachi band!

What I enjoyed the most was hanging out with all the volunteers, especially my own children. My wife helped organize the nurseries for the children of volunteers. There were hardly any children to watch, so she and some other ladies cleaned out some clutter. My 2 year old son loved helping take things to the dumpster. That and watching my older two learn about cultures and God, my family being there, and my church family being there, was great. I thought of all the memories my kids were making and was glad to be in the house of God.

A lot of energy from the workers and the kids; one of the first time VBS volunteers said this is so wonderful, she displayed the childlike excitement we all get when we are celebrating with our children our own church traditions that teach them the fun in learning about our Lord and Savior. I thank God for our Shannon & Kenny who just have a way of making things fun with all the details to teach the stories through the crafts and snacks, they are both so much fun! I enjoyed getting into character as Naomi and the kids will never forget how she was able to end up living with Ruth and Boaz on the Palm Beach side of Bethlehem and was richly blessed because of Ruth’s faithfulness with a jacuzzi at her new Palm Beach mansion, well I think they got the point!

Viva Mejico!  That was a great idea for the VBS.  How about a bullfighter for Spain night?  Or you could “import” a flamenco dancer.  The kids won’t forget these experiences.  I am glad that everyone had fun and wish I were closer to be there myself.  Keep on making it fun to be in the church family at PBBC.  You are an awesome group and I look forward to seeing all of you in September.  kay

Hope all is going well for you there in San Francisco.  Would love an update on your activities and if you have found a good church there.  I was in S Francisco this time last year and loved the weather and all the places that I saw.  Praying daily for you and your family.  Appreciate the memory.....kay How about an online course????
